What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Stress Doesn’t Just Live in Your Head—It Lives in Your Gut

When patients tell me they’re feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed, one of the first follow-up questions I ask is simple:

“How is your digestion?”

More often than not, stress and digestive issues show up together. That’s not a coincidence—it’s biology.

The Gut–Brain Connection Explained

Your gut and brain are in constant communication through what’s known as the gut–brain axis. This connection relies on nerves, hormones, and chemical messengers that travel back and forth between the digestive system and the brain.

In fact, a large portion of serotonin—the neurotransmitter often associated with mood—is produced in the gut.

When the gut is out of balance, those signals can be disrupted. And when stress is high, digestion is often one of the first systems affected.

Stress just isn’t something that affects your mental health. The impact of stress can affect your whole body!

How Stress Affects Digestion

Stress triggers the body’s “fight or flight” response. In that state, digestion becomes a lower priority.

Over time, chronic stress can:

  • Slow or disrupt digestion
  • Alter gut bacteria balance
  • Increase inflammation
  • Make the gut more sensitive

This is why people under stress may experience bloating, discomfort, irregularity, or changes in appetite—even when their diet hasn’t changed.

Gut health and mental health are more closely linked than you might think.

How the Gut Sends Stress Signals Back to the Brain

The relationship doesn’t go in just one direction.

When digestion is compromised, the gut can send distress signals back to the brain. This can influence mood, stress perception, focus, and overall mental resilience.

This feedback loop is why managing stress often requires supporting the gut—not just the mind.

Supporting your digestive health can set the stage for better overall physical and mental health.

Why Digestive Support Matters

Supporting gut health helps restore balance to this system.

A healthy gut environment supports:

  • Better communication between the gut and brain
  • Reduced digestive discomfort during stress
  • Improved nutrient absorption
  • Greater overall resilience

This is why I often recommend starting with digestion before layering in other wellness goals.

Where Targeted Gut Support Can Help

In addition to diet and lifestyle habits, comprehensive digestive support can play a role—especially during periods of ongoing stress.

Formulas like Total Gut Complex, which combine prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics, and functional ingredients, are designed to support gut balance and digestive health in a more complete way.

When the gut is supported consistently, many people notice improvements not just in digestion—but in how their body handles stress overall.

When you choose to support your gut, you’re also choosing to prioritize your mental wellbeing.

The Takeaway

Stress isn’t just something you think.

It’s something your body feels—often starting in the gut.

By supporting digestion and gut health, you’re supporting the communication system that connects your body and mind. And that support can make a meaningful difference in how you feel, respond, and recover from stress.

Managing stress isn’t about eliminating it completely.
It’s about giving your body the tools it needs to handle it better.
