Joint pain isn’t a pleasant sensation to experience, so when you are looking into taking a new medication, it makes sense to know if your joints will be affected in some way. The weight loss drug Mounjaro can be seen to have a relationship with joint pain on some level, though it might not be the one that you’d expect. Taking Mounjaro may or may not affect the joint pain that you experience based on what state your joints are already in. Are your joints already healthy? Are they being crushed under extra weight? The answer to these questions can determine the state of your joints while you take Mounjaro.

Mounjaro is part of a class of weight loss drugs that has been growing in popularity in recent years, and it is because of the amazing results that it can bring. Mounjaro has helped people reach their goal weights faster than ever, but like with anything good, there are potential side effects that can ruin the way your treatment goes and those side effects just might include joint pain. How much can joint pain affect you if you take Mounjaro? Keep reading to find out.

What Is Mounjaro?

Mounjaro is a medication used to treat diabetes and excess weight. It was originally made for diabetics, but once the amazing weight loss results were discovered, Mounjaro blew up as a weight loss drug, and is now seen everywhere in the media, trimming waistlines all throughout the country. This drug should be taken once weekly, and it is meant to be injected into the skin. This is something that you will get a demonstration from your doctor for so that you can know how to do it on your own once you leave the office. And while Mounjaro might sound like a miracle drug, it is meant to be taken alongside an improved diet and increased exercise for the best results.

Mounjaro can only be prescribed after an in-person visit. And when you go in for a visit, your doctor will decide if you fit any of the criteria necessary to get a Mounjaro prescription. Before they make a full decision, they have to check for your weight, age, and see if you have any comorbidities before they can make a decision. When you inject Mounjaro, you will pull out the pen and then inject it under your skin. The best sites to do this are in the stomach, the arms, or in the upper thighs. You will also need to switch up the injection spot on occasion to avoid irritating any one body part too much.

Mounjaro’s pens come packed with a few different doses. Just like any other medication, the pens should be used until they are done and then you will go and get a refill. Each box of Mounjaro that you pick up will contain 6 pens and 6 different dosages. They are also color coded for ease of use. The lowest dose of Mounjaro you can be prescribed is 2.5 mg and the highest dose is 15 mg. The dose can be upped or lowered depending on your needs and based on the doctor's recommendations. Mounjaro has been growing in popularity and you can always choose to find out why for yourself.

Mounjaro’s Side Effects

Mounjaro comes with a unique set of side effects that affects each person that uses it differently. A percentage of users will experience a particular set of symptoms while other users might experience more or less symptoms, and might experience them in different ways. Some of Mounjaro’s most common symptoms are gut related. These symptoms can include nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and stomach pains. These symptoms also tend to last for about a few weeks at a time and don’t typically last for the duration of the treatment.

Mounjaro can also have the potential to cause other problems in the body that are far less common than stomach issues. Some of these side effects can only occur if you have preexisting conditions as well. For instance, Mounjaro can worsen any pre-existing kidney issues, but won’t affect healthy kidneys. The worsening of the kidneys also has to do with some of Mounjaro’s gastrolienal side effects, mainly vomiting and diarrhea. Prolonged vomiting or diarrhea can cause severe dehydration if experienced for long enough.

Some of Mounjaro’s side effects have to do with the blood sugar changes that it can cause. Blood sugar changes have the rare potential to cause vision changes in some cases, and that is because rapid changes to your blood sugar can cause blurry vision. Though this is a symptom that will usually last for a few months while your body adjusts. Mounjaro can also cause gallbladder problems in rare cases, and gallbladder problems can lead to stomach pain, fever, and jaundice. Another rare side effect that can come with Mounjaro is low blood sugar, and those symptoms can include dizziness, sweating, drowsiness, and rapid heart beat.

Does Mounjaro Cause Joint Pain?

Joint pain is a symptom that can come with some medications, but Mounjaro isn’t exactly one of them. You may find that some people on Mounjaro experience some level of joint pain, but that is not a direct result of the medication. Patients who use Mounjaro can experience joint pain due to other related illnesses. One reason some people experience joint pain is due to obesity, and many people take Mounjaro for just that reason. So it isn’t Mounjaro that is causing the joint pain, but is instead working to get rid of it eventually.

Joint pain for people who use Mounjaro can manifest differently based on the reason that the joint pain is occuring. When taking Mounjaro, you might experience joint stiffness, aching and swelling, but that will depend on your body type and weight, not necessarily the medication. Joint pain can be experienced as stiffness or aching, but it can also show up as shooting or stabbing pains. It can show up as dull pains in the joints as well. The level of pain that you experience as well as the type will vary based on the amount of weight on your joints. This mild to severe joint pain can be present in a single joint or in multiple joints at once, and there are measures that you can take to relieve it.

The reason you are likely having joint pain while you are taking Mounjaro is because of all the excess weight there is on your joints. It may just finally be taking more of a toll on you right as you are going through your treatment, but it is not Mounjaro itself, but the excess weight that is likely causing the joint pain. You may need to visit your doctor to get an official diagnosis and find out what is really going on. It could turn out to be something different entirely, but you will have to check to figure it out if it isn’t already clear to you what the problem is.

Your overall health, your dosage, and your length of time taking Mounjaro can all affect how the pain in your joints operate. There are potentially other causes for joint pain while taking Mounjaro, but those causes are still being studied. Your doctor can run tests to help figure out what the most likely causes of your joint pain are, but there is some information that they won’t have access to until some studies are concluded.

If the potential for joint pain would hold you back from taking Mounjaro, the good news is that you won’t experience joint pain from taking Mounjaro itself. Mounjaro will actually help to decrease any joint pain brought on by excess weight as it sheds the pounds. So if you have any joint pain, continuing with your treatment is your best bet to put a stop to it. When you have shed a good amount of weight, and maybe even just a little bit, you will eventually start to notice a difference in your joints.

How Can You Relieve Joint Pain?

You might have to wait for enough weight to fall off before you see a permanent difference in your joints, but in the meantime, there are measures that you can take to mitigate some of the pain. Since your joints are under a lot of pressure, it is ideal that you keep them as healthy as possible. Keeping your joints healthy can mitigate some of the pain on them depending on how you go about it and what you can accomplish. Taking supplements is one way to lessen joint pain, and Dr. Emil has supplements that you can take just for your joints.

Dr. Emil’s Joint Support will keep your joints in tip top shape so that they can feel their best when you need them to, which is all the time. This supplement contains many ingredients that can help support your joint health. Some of the main joint healthy ingredients are glucosamine, chondroitin, and turmeric. Each of these ingredients helps to support your joints in different ways. Glucosamine is a natural substance that is found in cartilage. It is the tough tissue that cushions your joints, and there are many kinds of it that you can take for maximum joint health. Glucosamine is also used by the body to build tendons, ligaments, and cartilage

Chondroitin is the next most important ingredient in this joint supplement, and it works by absorbing fluid into the connective tissue. It gives the body what it needs to produce new cartilage and can also block enzymes that break down cartilage. Turmeric, on the other hand, is a popular plant that can help fight inflammation. It contains an anti-inflammatory ingredient called curcumin that can help reduce swelling, pain, and stiffness in the joints. These supplements combined give your joints the things they need to thrive. And that’s not all you’ll find inside this supplement either.

This supplement contains Chondroitin Sulfate, a natural substance that gives our joints their shock absorbing properties. This supplement is trusted by popular retailers like GNC, CVS, and Walmart. It has also been featured in several famous publications, and those include CNN, the Guardian, and Men’s Health. This supplement works for people of all ages, so as long as you want to help your joints, you can head to the store and grab a bottle of this.

Mounjaro is a medication that can help ease many of the symptoms of excess weight, and joint pain is one of them. So if you want to lose weight with Mounjaro, but don’t want to risk the health of your joints, that likely won’t be a problem. Mounjaro can do more to ease than cause joint pain over time, so try it out if you get the urge.
